I had the pleasure of taking senior pictures for Mr. Dalton Green.

He was a delight to photograph and a lot of fun. Since we share similar interests, it was easy for us to think of poses to incorporate his dirtbike.

We agreed to go to Decatur to photographer at the Petrified Wood Station because of its roughness and old-time charm.

Happy National Puppy Day

March 23rd is officially National Puppy Day. National Puppy Day was created to bring awareness to pet adoption and to end the cruelty of puppy mills.

If you are looking for a new family member, please consider adoption from a shelter. Any shelter will do and there are many outlets to find that perfect pet. Take a look at Petfinder. This website lets you search by particular fields to find a pet that you are looking for that is already in a shelter.

If adopting a new pet is not something you can do at this moment, please consider donating to the ASPCA. This organization helps out all kinds of animals.

You can also go to The Animal Rescue Site which allows you to click a button that donates sponsor money to a shelter for food and care. After clicking, you can set up a daily email reminder that will alert you to click everyday.

This site is also really cool because you can shop for all kinds of gifts. The money you spend on gifts will go towards feeding and caring for animals in shelters. I bought all my friends their Christmas presents on here and in turn was able to help out animals in need.

In observance of National Puppy Day I am posting pictures of my three, wonderful ADOPTED dogs.

Cabela

My husband, then fiance, was wanting a Lab to take duck hunting. For Christmas I decided I would get him one and I began looking on Petfinder. We found Cabela at a shelter in Springtown, TX. She is the best, well-trained dog I have ever owned. Recently, she tore her CCL (aka. the ACL in a human). We didn’t even think twice about having the surgery done and now, three months later, she is doing great. She is still hopping around on it a little, but healing well.

Molly

I was looking for a dog for me because my husband had Cabela and I was lonely. I found Molly on Petfinder.com also and, again, we drove out to Springtown, TX to save her. She was at a Rottweiler rescue, in a cage, with another puppy. She looked up at me as the other puppy pounced on her and I knew she was mine. I think she is a cross between a red heeler and some kind of terrier. She is fun, crazy and was the center of my photography for some time. I think she is probably the most photographic dog in the world. I often think I need to get her in to dog modeling.

Jesse

Jesse is not necessarily a rescue but I do think I saved her from a life not as great.

When my brother-in-law’s dog, Chole, got pregnant I figured my husband would not let me have another dog. After the puppies were born and I saw the way my husband looked at Jesse, I knew she would be ours. She was an angel, and still is. She is a little over 4 months old and is learning so well. She isn’t having nearly as many “accidents” as I had anticipated.

Jacob

Jacob wanted to be able to show off all of his loves for his senior portraits. Whether big or small, cute or rough, we used everything from his hunting rifle to his Ford truck. The best prop was his chocolate lab, Gunner, who was, surprisingly, a great model.

Hello Y’all!

I promised to post new pictures and I finally got around to it. Unfortunately photography is not my full time job so I do not have the opportunity to shoot, edit and post as much as I would like. Don’t get me wrong, I love my full time job as a Client Relations Associate, I am learning so much, but my first love is photography.

I had the opportunity to take pictures of a former coworker. She was generous enough to come out and take some pictures in order for me to showcase my work. She did a great job!

The pictures below show an esthetic that I am wanting to develop. I love juxtaposing the beauty of an open, rough area with a beautiful, “put together” person. I would love to hear your comments either by email or comment directly on the blog.

Long Time, No Blog

Well it has been a while since I lasted posted but between my four part time jobs and planning a wedding last year I haven’t had much time to stay updated or take many pictures for that matter.

Now, all of that craziness is over and I have a full time job which allows me to have to time to get back to my love of photography. I am striving towards putting more time and energy into building a photography buisness. This is something I have wanted to do all of my life.

I love my new full time job as a Client Relations Associate because I am able to use my brain in different ways. I am in a different environment that, at first, I wasn’t sure about but I see it as a way to improve on my professional self. I am so happy to be a part of this well-established and fair company.

Some exciting things are happening with my photography! I have recruited two girls to be my models to showcase my portrait style. I will be posting those shoots here for your viewing pleasure. Please leave comments and tell me what you think.

Da Vinci

I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to travel to Italy in the Summer of 2006. I went with a photography group organized by one of my teachers. We traveled to Rome, Florence, Pistoia, Lucca, Venice and stayed most of the time in a villa tucked away in the Tuscan hills. The trip was magnificent! I pray one day that I will return.

The picture above was taken in Florence just after we toured a museum that housed a Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit. I remember the moment just as the day I took the picture. It was me and two other girls resting on a bench in this courtyard. We had just finished our gelato and was watching a family play. This moment came up and I had the snap the shot.

I have many more moments from the trip but I could only shot film since I had not gotten my digital camera yet. Since I only have film, I do not have a way to scan my negatives anymore since I am out of school. I just happen to scan this picture in when I had some free time in the photo lab.

Fort Worth Stockyards

The Fort Worth Stockyards is a fun place to shoot just about anything so I was so excited when a coworker asked me to take pictures of her and her boyfriend. He, being from Maryland, had never been to the Stockyards and I’m not sure if he knew what to expect. So we roamed around the area looking for interesting locations. There is a courtyard a few blocks south of Exchange that offer a very romantic setting. Both had a lot of fun shooting and liked the end result.

Mother’s Day Portrait

My good friend Tara McDorman asked me to photographer her and her siblings for their mom’s Mother’s Day present. I decided a nice place, close to home, would be the Grapevine Botanical Gardens. Although small, the Grapevine Botanical Gardens is a beautiful spot, it’s well-kept and there are plenty of spots with beautiful lighting. Here are a few shots from that day.

Train Senior Pictures

The mom of this senior had the idea to take pictures in front of a slow moving train and with the graffiti on the train cars. We lucked out when we got to the site and there just happen to be a train engine stopped. We took advantage of the situation!

The weather was kind of unpredictable that day but for the most part offered subtle lighting. I think everyone was happy with the results, including mom.
